Creuse Zip code
It's called Creuse because of the river Creuse. It's in the middle of France. After the department of Lozere, it is the second least populated in the whole country of France. Allier and Puy-de-Dome are on its east side, Correze is on its south side, and Haute-Vienne is on its west side. Almost 12,000 people live in Gueret, the Prefecture of Creuse. This makes it the department's largest city. There is a town called La Souterraine next, and then Aubusson is the next largest. With a population density of 21 people per square kilometre (56 people per square mile), Creuse is one of the most rural and sparsely populated departments in France. In 2016, the department had a population of 119,000, which is second to last in France. The land is mostly used for farming, and the department is well known for its Chestnut and Hazel production, as well as its Charolais and Limousin cattle breeds, which are both well-known in the area.
