Haute Savoie Zip code
Haute-Savoie is a department in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of southeastern France. It borders both Switzerland and Italy and is part of the region. Its capital is Annecy. To the north is Lake Geneva, to the south and southeast are Mont Blanc and the Aravis mountain range, and to the west are the Alps. Its name comes from the historical region of Savoy. The department of Savoie, which is south of Haute-Savoie, also has that name, as does the department of Savoie itself. 807,360 people lived there in 2017. It has three subprefectures: Bonneville, Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, and Thonon-les-Bains, which are all cities. Haute-Savoie is where the Mont Blanc Tunnel in France opens up to go to Italy. In 1924, the first Winter Olympic Games were held there.
