The Al-Qadisiyah Governorate (Arabic:, romanized as Al Qadisiyah) is one of Iraq's governorates. It is located in the country's central-south region. According to the 2014 census, the province's projected population is about a million and a half million people. Al Diwaniyah serves as the capital. It was once included in the ad-Diwniyah Governorate, along with al-Muthann and Najaf. The province is named after the ancient city of Al-Qdisiyah, which was the scene of the Battle of al-Qdisiyah in 636 CE, during which the Islamic Rashidun troops beat the Sassanid Empire's armies. The governorate is mostly composed of Shia Arabs. Hor Aldelmj is a Mesopotamian wetland.
There is just one public institution, the University of Qadisiyah, which was formed in the late 1980s and has faculties of nursing, pharmacy, law, literature, education, agriculture, and medicine. The majority of the student population comes from districts and places within the province and neighbouring provinces. The institution is situated on the historic route that connects Hilla to the city. Al-technical Qadisiyah's institution is likewise situated roughly 6 kilometres from the city centre.
