Kfu is the capital and largest city of Yamanashi Prefecture. It is one of only eight landlocked prefectures in Japan. Most people live in the central Kfu Basin, which is surrounded by the Akaishi Mountains, with 27% of its land area designated as Natural Parks. In Yamanashi Prefecture, there are a lot of the tallest mountains in Japan. Mount Fuji, the tallest mountain in Japan and a cultural symbol of the country, is part of Yamanashi Prefecture and part of Shizuoka Prefecture.
