Devonshire Parish Postal code
There are nine parishes in Bermuda. Devonshire Parish is one of the nine. There were two names for the tribe at first: Cavendish Tribe and Devonshire Tribe. They were named for William Cavendish, 1st Earl of Devonshire (1552?1626). He also named one of the fortifications in St. George's Parish, St. George's Redoubt, on Castle Island, after him. People in the middle of the country live there. It's close to where the main island meets the peninsula that includes the capital city, Hamilton, and Pembroke Parish (to which it is joined in the west). There are two parishes that it shares with: Smith's Parish is to the north, and Paget Parish is to the south. In the same way that most of the parishes in Bermuda are small, St. George's is just over 2.3 square miles big. It has North Shore Road, Middle Road, and South Shore Road. A 7,087 person lived there in 2016.
