Pedernales Postal code
Pedernales is the southernmost province of the Dominican Republic, and it includes the island of Isla Beata, which is off the coast. This is where Barahona is now. It was split from Barahona back in 1957. Among the 2,074.53 km of land, 1374 km belong to the Jaragua National Park. Juan Lopez was the original name of the capital city of the province, Pedernales. He was a Spanish resident who moved to the area around the 19th century and lived there for a while before moving on. Pedernales is the name of a river that runs along the border with Haiti. Flint is found there in abundance. There were a lot of sharp tools made with them by the Tano, the first people in the Dominican Republic.
