About Monufia
There are a lot of governorates in Egypt. Monufia is one of them. There, it is in the northern part of Egypt. It is in the Nile Delta, to the south of the Gharbia Governorate and to the north of Cairo. A long-ago city called Menouf is the name of the governorate. It was the capital of the governorate until 1826, when it moved. There is a new governor now, Said Mohammed Mohammed Abbas, who came in 2018. He moved the capital of Monufia from Menouf to Shibin El Kom in 1826. That's because Shibin El Kom was in the middle of the governorate. Other than Shibin El Kom, the governorate had four other administrative divisions: Quesna, Tala, Menouf, and Talawy, which are all in the same area. In 1942, El Shohada became a new administrative division. It was made up of parts from Shibin El Kom and Tala at the time. People from Menouf, Talawy, Quesna and Shibin El Kom lived in Bagour in 1947. It was made up of these areas: During the 1950s, five villages from Tala were moved to Tanta and given to other people. In 1960, Berket El Sabe'e (Lake of the Lion) was created. It was made up of the old towns and villages of Tala, Quesna, and Shibin El Kom. It became a city instead of a village in 1975, when it was split from Menouf. Sadat City was added to Monufia in 1991, making it the only region west of the Rosetta branch that Monufia owns at the time. Voters in Monufia went to the polls the most in the final round of the 2012 Egyptian presidential election. They also voted for Ahmed Shafik more than any other candidate (71.5 percent ).
