Atlantida is a department in Honduras, Central America. It is on the north Caribbean shore of the country. The capital is La Ceiba, which is a port city in the north of the country. In the last few years, tourism has become the main source of legitimate income for the coastal area. There were about 372,532 people there in 2005. The department has an area of 4,251 km2.
