About Dhi Qar Iraq
Dhi Qar is a city in the southern region of Iraq. Nasiriyah serves as the provincial capital. Muntafiq Governorate was the name of the governorate that existed before to 1976. As the ancient Iraqi civilization of Sumer's heartland, Dhi Qar contains the ruins of Ur, Eridu, Lagash and Larsa as well as the remains of Girsu, Umma, and Bad-tibira, among other sites. Mesopotamian Marshes comprise a large portion of the governorate's southern territory.
The governorate contains the towns of al-Rifai, Qalat Sukkar, Ash Shatrah, al-Gharraf, Suq al-Shuyouk, Khamisiyah, and al-Chibayish, as well as the cities of Qalat Sukkar, Ash Shatrah, al-Gharraf, Suq al-Shuyouk, Khamisiyah, and al-Chibayish.
Tahir Jalil Habbush al-Tikriti was the governor of Iraq during the mid-1990s. He eventually rose through the ranks to become the country's police head and, in 1999, the director of the Iraqi Intelligence Service.
The population is roughly 2,000,000 people, with the majority of them being Shia Arabs. A large number of Marsh Arabs have historically resided in the southern wetlands.
As of 2007, the neighbourhood is very impoverished, with a high unemployment rate and a poverty rate that is much higher than the national average.
