Fukushima ken is a prefecture in Japan. It is in the Thoku region of the island of Honshu. 1,810,286 people live in Fukushima Prefecture as of 1 May 2021. It has an area of 13,783 square miles (5,322 sq mi). Niigata Prefecture is to the west; Gunma Prefecture is to the southwest; Tochigi and Ibaraki are to the south. Miyagi Prefecture and Yamagata Prefecture are to the north. Niigata, Niigata, Gunma, and Tochigi Prefectures are all nearby. Fukushima Prefecture is the third-largest prefecture in Japan, after Hokkaido and Iwate Prefecture. It is split into three parts by mountain ranges: Aizu, Nakadri, and Hamadri.
