It has a land area of 7,103 km2 (2,742 sq mi). Kochi Prefecture is next to Ehime Prefecture to the north and Tokushima Prefecture to the east. A lot of big cities are in Kochi Prefecture, like Nankoku and Shimanto. Kochi is the capital and largest city of Kochi Prefecture. It is on Japan's Pacific coast, near the island of Shikoku. The southernmost point of the island is Cape Ashizuri in Tosashimizu. Kochi Prefecture is home to Kochi Castle, which is thought to be the most well-preserved Japanese castle, and the Shimanto River, which is one of the few rivers in Japan that hasn't been dammed.
