The southernmost point of the island is Cape Ashizuri in Tosashimizu. Kochi Prefecture is home to Kochi Castle, which is thought to be the most well-preserved Japanese castle, and the Shimanto River, which is one of the few rivers in Japan that hasn't been dammed.
