Mauritius Postal code
Mauritius Postal Code
Postal codes in Mauritius are made up of five digits each (or a letter and four digits for an island). They were originally launched by Mauritius Post on a pilot basis in Lallmatie, Bon Accueil, and Brisée Verdière from January to March 2012, before being expanded to other parts of the island and finally being implemented throughout the country on 15 August 2014.
Format
When a postcode is put after the name of a town or hamlet, it looks somewhat like this:
Mr. and Mrs. Will Ferguson
22, Old Trafford Road
Mission Cross
Lalmatie 42602
MAURITIUS
For the town of Lalmatie, the first number of the code shows the district code, which in this case is Flacq District, while the second and third digits indicate the Village Council Area Code, and the fourth and fifth digits indicate the Sub-Locality Code.
