Peru Postal Code

A Peruvian postal code is a five-digit string that is used to denote a portion of a Peruvian postal address. Prior to 2011, only Lima and Callao's major cities had postal codes. However, in February 2011, a countrywide system with a five-digit numeric format was established. As is the case with postal codes in Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and the United States, postal codes in Peru are exclusively numerical, consisting entirely of numbers.

The first two digits of the postal code indicate the administrative area or department. whereas the following two numbers indicate a particular district or place within a district. Because the middle digit is not strictly associated with provinces. it is feasible, and indeed usual, for a province to be divided into many postal zones.

For example, Chachapoyas Province comprises sections of postal zones 010, 012, 013, and 014. but Bongará Province contains the entirety of postal zone 011. Regardless, all five postal zones are contained within the Department of Amazonas, as they all begin with the numerals. 01. Postal codes The following table summarises the various postal codes used in Peru. A two-digit regional code is allocated to each department or region. This is the start of the postal code. The final two numbers are a geographic code that identifies a particular district or subdistrict within a district. The middle digit is not associated with any administrative divisions. Other than "0" or "5", the last digits are frequently used to signify metropolitan or built-up regions, however this is not always the case.

Thus, the district of Jazan in the Amazones Region has the postal code 01130, whilst the city of Pedro Ruiz Gallo inside the district of Jazan has the postal code 01131.

Similarly, while the district of Conchuccos has the ZIP number 02875, the same-named metropolitan city has the ZIP code 02876.
