Barbados Postal code
Barbados Postal Code
Barbados has five-digit numeric postal codes that begin with the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 prefix.
B.P.S. or Barbados Postal Service is the country's official postal operator and functions as a department of the Barbados government under the Ministry of Home Affairs, reporting to the Prime Minister. Her Excellency, Sheila Greaves, is the acting Postmaster General of Barbados Postal Service (B.P.S.). She is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the island's postal services, which are subject to the laws of the country. Following the enactment of local law allowing for the delivery of inland mail in Barbados, the postal services were re-established in 1852.
The Post Office Act provides that the postal service is empowered to process express mail and parcel post items independently of HM (Barbados) Customs, including the collection of duties and taxes on behalf of HM (Barbados) Customs for low value, low dutiable items, as provided by the Post Office Act.
